Let me start by letting you know how this week began. On Sunday night I started a 21-day fast of only water and juice which I am currently on day 6. My original goal was for it was to prepare for the summer and see what God wants to teach me in this time. On Monday I received an email from Cheryl Beall who is a organizer for our Africa trip letting us know that the price of airfare to Africa had begun going up so we needed to buy our tickets immediately. What a convenient event to happen right after I start fasting, Thank you Jesus! So after some deliberation and praying I made the decision to put the full price on credit which was around $2700 for the round trip fare. I have full faith that God will provide the money needed to pay this off but In my flesh I defiantly was a bit concerned about how or when it would happen. Two days ago during a prayer service a friend of mine felt God leading him to come over and pray for me. He had no clue I had put the money on credit nor that I was now fasting in part for that reason. He prayed for a few minutes about everything I am doing this summer and I really felt the presence of God during that time.
Today my hunger began to hit me and I really had to battle my desire to break the fast. I stopped myself from giving in and immediately turned to God and remembered what this fast was for and why I was fasting. I got re-focused on God and sat down to begin working on the remaining mission letters. Minutes after, the mail came and there was a letter from a family that I had sent my mission letter to. Inside was a check for $1000! Are you kidding me! The second I saw that amount God spoke to me and said "Let this be an assurance that I am going to provide for you, do not worry anymore. I will provide all the money you need". I nearly broke down in tears, the presence of God was so overwhelming. It is just so awesome to see God honoring my sacrifice and giving me exactly what I need.
